The Masque of the Red Death (1964) Classy take on the classic tale with a bit of Hop-frog thrown in for good measure. One of Corman's finest. TIL: While never converting, one of Poe's few pleasures in his last years was hanging with and taking solace from the Jesuits at Fordham.

Dad Rock Daily: The Rezillos - Can't Stand The Rezillos (1978) Punk with a smile. Basically a goofier Ramones with the added bonus of a lady's touch. Laudable Lyrics: It's a slap in the face for the human race just to survive, to be eaten alive.

Heartstopper (1989) Colonial-era Tory vampire putters about Pittsburgh, bemoans democracy, and befriends a priest. Dull, dull, and, oh yes, dull. TIL: JPII wrote that true democracy requires the rule of law and the correct conception of the human person. Don't get me started.

And finally, I’ll have a full review later this week, but for now let's just say Avengers: Endgame is 100% for the fans who have been with these movies for twelve years, and for them, three hours will pass far too quickly.

Highway to Hell (1991) After a Hellcop arrests his gal, Charlie travels the backroads of Hades to save her. Good in that late-night viewing sort of way. TIL: Some skeptics suggest Christianity only spread thanks to Roman roadways. You think maybe the message helped a little too?

Yongary, Monster from the Deep (1967) Prehistoric monster scarfs down Korea's gasoline. Begs the question, what did it eat before the stuff was invented? TIL: The current pope seems very concerned about fossil fuels impact of God's creation. Think he would cheer for Yongary?

The Werewolf of Washington (1973) Dean Stockwell wolfs out and chews scenery in D.C. It's supposedly a satire, but of what it never really seems to make clear. TIL: Innumerable people have abandoned religion and replaced it with politics. How's that working out for everyone?

Strangler of the Swamp (1946) Spirit punishes the families of those who wrongly hanged him. Well made and atmospheric. Oh, and foggy. TIL: Interesting that the story of Jesus' wrongful death and return doesn't end in revenge. Guess he'd never make it as a writer in Hollywood.

Wholly Moses (1980) Woefully unfunny Talmudic take on Life of Brian. Pretty sure the 11th Commandment would have been thou shalt not make this movie. TIL: Jews, Catholics, & Protestants may enumerate the Decalogue differently, but the same rules are there no mater the version.

Dad Rock Daily: Genesis - Selling England By The Pound (1973) Considered one of the Top 10 Prog-Rock records of all time, and I won't argue. Jaw dropping if all you know are the group's 80's hits. Laudable Lyrics: I know what I like, and I like what I know.

And finally, CNA’s Tim Hruszkewycz has seen the latest horror film to come down the pike, The Curse of La Llorona, and has a few observations on Catholicism in Hollywood.

Womaneater (1958) Scientist feeds ladies to a vaguely plant-like thing which then produces life-restoring fluids. 1-to-1 ratio seems kind of self defeating. TIL: Good ends do not justify evil acts. Yes, God can bring good out of evil, but last time I checked, we're not God.
