Dad Rock Diary: Public Image Ltd, - Metal Box (1979) Progressive post-punk? That's about as good a description as any, though it's possible the uninitiated might go with lots of repetitive noise. Laudable Lyrics: Someone is calling. Don't you listen, don't you listen?

Sing A New Song: Moses Sumney - Græ (2020) Ambitious double-set of experimental soul is mellow and mostly engrossing, but occasionally stumbles over its own wokeness. Laudable Lyrics: I give my life to something, something bigger than me.

And finally, the Bible Films Blog has run across what they believe must be the most sacrilegious Jesus film of all time, the Christian-made time travel epic Assassin 33 A.D! Chances are I've seen worse, but this does sound horrible.

Dad Rock Diary: Voivod - War and Pain (1984) Canada's gift to thrash metal makes an ugly, loud, but nevertheless convincing case that they should be the house band for the apocalypse. Laudable Lyrics: Don't stay in black city, your soul will catch the spell.

Dad Rock Diary: The Raincoats - Odyshape (1980) This album is like going on a date with a pretty woman only to discover a minute or so into it that she's full-on cray cray... and you kind of dig it. Laudable Lyrics: Hand in hand with the physical is the spiritual.

Blackenstein (1973) Disfigured soldier's reconstruction goes bad. Wants to say something about the black experience in Vietnam, but no message can penetrate its goofiness. TIL: All are called to participate in the same divine beatitude: all therefore enjoy an equal dignity.

Dad Rock Diary: Patrice Rushen - Straight From The Heart (1982) As smooth as silk jazz/R&B. Easy to see Alicia Keys wearing the grooves off this one. Laudable Lyrics: All we need to do is love one another. What we need to do is care for each other.
