INTERMISSION: CATHOLIC BLOG AWARDS? WHAT THE...

cba01

Well, after two to three weeks with the entire household being down with the flu, everyone's finally managed to get back on their feet and I can get back to regular blogging. And it's good timing because the time has come to cast some important votes. No, I'm not talking about that dog and pony show with Hillary and Obama, I'm talking about The 2008 Catholic Blog Awards. While casting my own votes for some of the excellent blogs you see listed over in the sidebar, imagine my surprise to run across my own meager efforts as one of the nominees for Most Informative & Insightful Blog. A definite "What the... !!!" moment.

Now I'm not even going to pretend I have a chance of winning, but I have to admit I kind of get a kick out of the idea that this bizarre little corner of the Catholic blogosphere at least got a nod. (This must be what Ron Paul feels like.) My sincere thanks to whichever one of you out there slipped me in.

Congratulations! I was blown away to find mine in that category as well. So have at you! :)

Seriously, I find myself saying, "Uh oh. Someone is actually reading this thing. I wish I polished a lot of these entries a little more. I better get my act together." Are you getting that sense at all?

Definitely. And the category is kind of daunting. Most Informative & Insightful? I'm posting cartoons with big rubber monsters in them for crying out loud! I can just imagine someone following the link from the awards site and landing on one those. They probably think they've been punked.

I think you deserve the nomination for the effort that you put into your blog. The category is appropriate too, especially when you emphasize the word "Insightful." The ability you have to draw so much from these b-movies is what impresses.
