COMING ATTRACTIONS: CHERRY 2000

Okay, After three weeks I think I’ve finally purged the Andromeda Strain (or whatever bug that was that I had) from my system and can get back to some serious blogging (or at least whatever kind of blogging it is that I do around here). We’re going to start off the third year of The B-Movie Catechism by quickly burning through some reader requests.

First up is the not-as-nasty-as-it-sounds, but still not for the kiddies, Cherry 2000 requested by The Sci-Fi Catholic himself, D.G.D. Davidson. If you need something to do while waiting on the review, be sure to pick up the latest issue of Mindflights which contains Deej’s novelette Dragonsaint. Along with (naturally) a dragon and a saint, the story also has forest firefighting, hidden civilizations, Baptists, and intense scenes of tea drinking. It’s excellent, go read it.

Cherry 2000! w00t! That's a gold mine for catechism.

There are two women who in my estimation are the worst actresses to show up in A-movies I've ever seen. Kim Catrall is one. Melanie Griffith is the other.

Kim Kim Kim Cattrall
You've never made a bad film.
Oh, what the hell,
Ring my bell,
Let's go to the Dells,
Our relationship will gel.
I like your smell,
You're really swell,
I'm Charlton Heston for Contel.
I love you Kim (I liked your dress at the Ace Awards) Cattrall!

(Man, I miss MST3K.)

I agree with Scott! w00t!

Man, I haven't seen this movie since I was eight or thereabouts! (Seriously!)

Oh, and thanks for plugging my novelette, too. Glad you liked it (assuming you weren't just being nice).

You wouldn't believe the tea I had to drink to write that thing...

And my word verification is "moponed," a futuristic moped, or what you shout when you defeat a particularly difficult end boss, only you spell it "Mop0wned!!!"

"Glad you liked it (assuming you weren't just being nice)."

If you knew me away from the Internet you'd know that being nice isn't really my forte. I had a friend I've known for 25+ years who released a CD last year and I listened through it about four times before I said it was good and recommended it to people. Dragonsaint was good, you should be proud.

Thanks.

By the way, I don't know where you're going to go with Cherry 2000 (and I know you always take the less obvious, more creative tack), but if you're hunting up resources on the most obvious elements of the movie, I just posted a link to a news video you might want to see--also, John C. Wright had one sometime back about women buying mechanical babies.
