The Gong Show....yes,yes,yes!

I've seen a lot lately about this speaker, who's clearly parted ways from rational thought (itself a Patriarchal oppressive construct, according to some). What's missing is the anger of many of these dissenting nuns. It is not just that they discarded Tradition for something obviously inferior, but how much bitterness and resentment the nonsense lets them keep, when the Tradition would have confronted it using small words.

Ah, a fellow Gong Show fan! It was a staple of my Summer viewing as a kid.

And, yeah, you're right about the angry nuns, of course. I just can't bring myself to rake them over the coals too much. I'd feel bad about hitting them too hard when they don't have that much time left. Hopefully the archbishop in charge of the reform can gently nudge a few of them back into the fold.

I don't have much hope for many moving. Did you read their response to the Vatican? Still full of the same deep ecology feminist nonsense-speak as before the report. The press release is here, if you can stomach it: https://lcwr.org/sites/default/files/media/files/lcwr_2012_assembly_press_releases_-_8-10-12.pdf

Man, I need an ipecac after reading that. Their press release mentioned Barbara Marx Hubbard, consciousness evolution, social synergy & cocreative coevolving humanity. Nowhere in the three page document did I see the words Jesus, Christ, or God. These women are seriously adrift and in need of our prayers.

Am I (a) safer or (b) more backward and out of touch if I though the moniker "Barbara Marx Hubbard" was something you made up, Eegah? 'Cause it totally sounds like a fictional name to me. (Maybe I need to back away from the current project and rejoin the 21st century... or not?)

BTW, what do you use to put the bubbles on the stills? Last time I checked, Plasq's Comic Life was the go-to, but it has been a while since I looked at them. Me, I'm working with yee olde shapes on my photo editing app. *embarrassed*

Anyway, this is a post made of pure awesome, as usual. I figured you needed to be told. I've been enjoying the recent stuff... just not encouraging you as I feel I should be.

Either way, you're probably saner. This kind of stuff drives me nuts.

As for the word balloons, originally I just used Microsoft Word's built in balloons, but once it began to look like I was going to be doing this regularly I went ahead and bought a program similar to Comic Life called Comic Book Creator. I don't know if it's still around or not. Photoscape also has word balloons and its freeware.

I'd have gonged them by the third panel. Yep. I grew up on Gong Show. I have a recollection of one celebrity trying to gong an act, but the other celebs took his mallet away, so he ended up whacking the gong with his chair.

The terrible thing is that none of the quoted writings are parodies, just stuff I cut and pasted from interviews and Hubbard's own website. There should be a gong sound every time you clink on a link to it.

LibreOffice Draw can import jpegs, and has a tool to add & configure word balloons.

Debatable, that.

Thanks for the word balloon tips, guys. I appreciate it. *bows deeply*

Ah, Gene, Gene, my old friend.
Are you familiar with the Klingon proverb that tells us that Liturgical Dance is the dance of choice in the Infernal Disco?

EegahInc said...

I hadn't heard that one before. Then again, I've tried to avoid hearing the mass in its original Klingon.
