Need a break from politics? Me too? Republicans, democrats, bleh. You know what this country really needs right now? More old school nuns armed with yardsticks! I bet that would straighten a few people out. Don’t believe me, just ask the demons in the following montage. (WARNING: gooey monster stuff near the end!)
I say give the Sisters 36 inches of cork-backed stainless steel straight edged justice and let’em loose in the halls of Congress. Whap, whap, whap! We’d have this country straightened out in no time flat.
Okay, okay, spare me the chastising. I’m well aware that the above is a cliché and that nuns throughout history, habited or not, have carried out some of the hardest and most thankless ministries the Church has had to offer, often with little thanks and rarely with rulers in their hands. So I’m not trying to perpetuate an old stereotype.
But, man, I’d love to see a congressman, any congressman, take a rap across the knuckles. Just once.

I'm watching Night of the Demons 2 right now and am torn. =S
All the "deliberate errors by the filmmakers" (as IMDb.com calls them) are speaking to me profoundly. I was really impressed when Sister Gloria "suited up" to fight the demons in an old-school (i.e., pre-V2) habit. But when she added a stole . . . =S . . . And it was bigger than the wussy Father Bob's wussy bit-of-ribbon stole?
So I'm torn. On the one hand, this is like something I observed in Paranormal Activity and Joy Ride 2: the men are either sleeping on the "wrong" side of the bed or riding in the "wrong" part of the car. And that's a sign that they're not doing their job as leaders and protectors, which leaves their female counterparts to take up a lot of the slack. In a way, that is what Sister Gloria is doing by putting on that stole.
But . . . that's not how it works, is it? A woman can neither become a priest nor take the place of a priest.
Maybe she was the last of the Carthusians...

Well, my review is up! =) I tried to work the Carthusians into it, but then I realised I had to say something about the movie aside from the Catholic symbolism. (Sigh!)
