DAILY CALL SHEET: JANUARY 12, 2020

Pi (1998) Math whiz inadvertently stumbles onto the underlying formula of the universe. Of course it's weird, it's Aronofsky. TIL: Maria Agnesi, devout Catholic and first female university math professor, wrote often on the union of intellectual study and mystical contemplation.

Dad Rock Diary: Venom - Welcome to Hell (1981) Legendary as a prototype for thrash & black metal, but also for its bad production and questionable musicianship. Laudable Lyrics: But your foolish compulsions sent you to the grave. Hell has deceived you, you were so blind.

Things To Come: Saint Maud - Just in time for Easter, another Christians are hateful homophobic nuts movie. Hurray. Still, A24 implies quality, and the last line, "What if I'm getting it all wrong." suggests Maud may be seen as an exception. Here's hoping.

And finally…
