DAILY CALL SHEET: JANUARY 5, 2020

American Nightmares (2018) Low budget anthology features way too many stories written with all the subtlety of someone who spends most of their time tweeting for Salon. TIL: As Ecclesiastes 5 advises, don't worry about empty dreams; reverentially fear God instead.

Dad Rock Diary: Al Green - Green Is Blues (1969) Soulful singer starts to come into his own with nice collection of covers. Gotta love funky Get Back. Laudable Lyrics: As I look at this world,  you know, I'm beginning to see that this is not the world that god intended to be.

And finally, a few blog posts of note. I watched some of Netflix's Messiah and thought about jotting down a few thoughts but realized Kate O'Hare at Pax Culturati had suffered through more episodes and pretty much covered the necessities.

Meanwhile, Catholic Skywalker has finished up his list of the last decade’s greatest movies. There’s only two horror movies in the top 50, so naturally I have some disagreements, but there’s some good debate fodder here.
