That's what I love about the Church. She's not, as some would say, some horrible thought police, telling her members what is Goodthink or Badthink. Instead, she explains to us what is vital for friendship with God, and then leaves us alone to use our properly formed conscious to ponder the rest.
This is great. Plenty of folks in the modern era have stressed that in heaven, we will be reunited to all our loved ones in heaven who died before us (pious devotion, not magisterial teaching). Thomas Merton wrote with his usual humor that in heaven we'll be someone's trophy--Augustine, or whoever was esential in our conversion or perseverance. Seems to me that one's spouse fits both of those ideas pretty well.
