COMING ATTRACTIONS: DOUBLE FEATURE: EVIL BEHIND YOU & THE BURNING HELL

Well, we've now passed the six month mark here at The B-Movie Catechism and it's just in time for our 25th review. To celebrate, we're going to have our first double feature in which we GO TO HELL! First up is 2006's Evil Behind You, a direct to video horror/thriller produced by the folks at Given The Boot Ministries in hopes of bringing the Christian message into the secular environment. You can view the trailer here at the movie's official website. After that we take a look at 1974's The Burning Hell, evangelist Estus Pirkle's 16mm fire and brimstone epic which promises to deliver 20,000 degrees fahrenheit and not a drop of water! There's no trailer, but you can buy or rent a print from Mr. Pirkle himself at his website, or you can just watch the whole thing (in eight parts) on YouTube.

Oh, I'm looking forward to this. This looks strikingly like the sort of thing I could often see on the fringe of my previous religious affiliation. Fringe, mind you. Some people seem to think all Fundamentalists are into this stuff.

All I can say is Eegahinc you are one brave creature! At least as brave as the poor guy at the USCCB who has to watch Dogma to give it the big O.

"Are you 100% to go in HEAVEN if you Died Today?"

LOL!

You have no chance to survive make your time.

Can't wait. Also, any chance you will take a stab at the Resident Evil series now that it is going trilogy with Extinction?

Well, the Reverend Pirkle sure knows how to get attention doesn't he? I'll save the gory details for the review, but let's just say this isn't my first experience with The Burning Hell.

Dogma. That one would take a whole book wouldn't it? Just how much guilt does this poor slob feel for leaving his mother's religion if he has to resort to this? I once saw one of Smith's college routines where he stated he couldn't agree with the Catholic Church's teachings because he wanted to **** before he got married. There was more honesty in that one sentence than in the entire running time of Dogma.

I wonder if the Resident Evil movies would be considered B-Movies budget-wise? (I have a shtick to keep up you know.) They're probably still low to mid budget compared to the usual Summer fare these days, so, why not? I've already got the next few reviews lined up but I'll work it in soon.

It's big budget on further examination. I guess it's "The B-movie Catechism, not the Bad-Movie-Made-with-Big-Money Catechism. :)

Resident Evil? Eegah Inc, you can't go high-budget like that! Look at the cinematography, the wire-fu or whatever that is, the creature effects, the explosions! They may be BAD movies, but that aren't B movies! Think of your reputation!

You know I got through about 3 YouTube episodes of Prickle. It was painful. I actually didn't think it was that bad except for the acting, the unnecessary gore, and his statistics. Exactly how does he know how many people go to Hell every minute? Other than that, it wasn't terribly terrible...oh, except I don't remember any flames in that passage in Exodus. The message is well meant, the urgency is reasonable--it's just those statistics!

I looked up Resident Evil's budget. $32 million. I probably shouldn't succumb to that temptation. That would lead to Ghost Rider, which would lead to Van Helsing, and so on and so on until I was reviewing Michael Bay movies. I'm not sure I'm strong enough to review Michael Bay movies.

You better leave the Michael Bay movies up to those of us strong enough to ingest them.

Especially when he maes Dino-Riders vs. Dinosaucers in Dinotopia!

It would like to get the script of this film so that it can translate into the Brazilian Portuguese language. It knows where I can obtain?

Grateful,

I'm sorry, I don't. The production companies might be able to help though.
