COMING ATTRACTIONS: SANTA CLAUS CONQUERS THE MARTIANS

The trailer for this movie seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth (which is appropriate I suppose), so here's an old TV promo from 1984 that also manages to take a few cracks at the wretched Santa Claus: The Movie released that same year. This is a special holiday request from D. G. D. Davidson at The Sci-Fi Catholic who has already watched the MST3K version and read the book this year. (Must be some unspoken Pia Zadora fetish we don't know about.) I also don't know how I'm gonna make it through this one without the MSTies, but I'll give it my best shot.

It's pretty rough, but you can hear more of the not-entirely-awful dialogue.

Hi Allen,

You know, I'm a guy for whom "not-entirely-awful" is a thumbs up recommendation when it comes to movies.

I hope you've seen my last few posts. I think Brain Week might have been right up your alley.

Sometime soon I'm going to have to add a blogroll for sites like your's that don't quite fit my very narrow niche here, but I know people would like.

Yes, I think you're certainly my brand of B-movie wacko. I might have to go watch SCCtM again myself, and write a review. Of course, I just picked up that Sam Katzman dvd set, too, so...

Anyway, I reckon I'll add you to my blogroll.

Let me get this straight....

S-A-N-T-A C-L-A-U-S spells Santy Clause?

Three cheers for the educations system! Huzzah! Huzzah! Huzzah!!

The real evil of this movie is that it gets that song stuck in your head!

Hey, if you want another Santa Claus Conquers the Martians to review, I've just posted the opening scenes for my conception of the remake.

Wow, I'm always surprised which movies touch a nerve. Just the mention of this thing has brought more comments than most of the reviews get.

Great stuff, D. G. D. I'm sure I'll be linking to that soon. You know, if anyone ever forgets how to get to your blog, this place is definitely becoming the place to come to for directions.

Well, I've done it. My thoughts on the spiritual implications of SCCtM are now up at the Brain Lab.

May God have mercy on us all.

At one point in my life, I browsed through a book of Sci-Fi lists. At the very top of "Worst Movies" was ... Santa Clause Conquers the Martians.

And with good reason.
