Secular courts during the Inquisition? I thought they were all run by the Church. I've read and learned of too many horror stories about the Inquisition to believe anyone of that time would have preferred it to any other punishment. One of the flaws of our Catholic heritage, I have to admit.

The Addams Family! One of my favourite horror sitcoms! "Everyday is Halloween for some of us." I'm one of those some of us! But the big day/night for me is All Hollows Eve. I see it as a time to purge ourselves through fantasy such as costuming and watching horror films so we can more faithfully celebrate All Saints Day and All Souls after that.

Thanks for the great post!

There's no way to whitewash the abuses of power that happened during the Inquisitions, nor should we try, but yeah, as crazy at it sounds, it seems a lot of the accused preferred being tried by the Church rather than the local Lords. This article has a good short explanation. https://www.nationalreview.com/2004/06/real-inquisition-thomas-f-madden/

Almost forgot, in case you haven't heard, Pluto TV has a 24/7 Addams Family channel for October! When I'm not watching movies, it's been on continuously.
